ArmInfo.Today, Armenia, unfortunately, does not have the tools and mechanisms to monitor the fate of Armenian heritage in the territories that have passed under Azerbaijani control. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated on January 23 at a press conference in Yerevan, summing up the results of 2023, in response to a question about the possibilities of preventing Azerbaijan from destroying the Armenian cultural heritage in the occupied territories of Artsakh.
At the same time, he noted that the Armenian side, meanwhile, can assume what fate awaits them, taking into account the fact that the inscriptions of the Armenian churches were erased by the direct order of the President of Azerbaijan.
"The Armenian side has repeatedly publicly voiced its concerns. Moreover, we are working on this issue with UNESCO. Let's hope that there will still be progress on this issue," said the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
At the same time, the diplomat expressed his conviction that the international community can play a serious role in this issue, since this is a heritage of global significance.
The Azerbaijani authorities are step by step destroying the Armenian cultural and religious heritage in the occupied territories of Artsakh that have come under their control. Such alarms come almost daily.
