ArmInfo.Armenia's authorities are trying to belittle the Armenian people's historical past, Avetik Chalabyan, Coordinator of the Hayaqve initiative, wrote on his Facebook account.
According to him, recently the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia has been consistently implementing various initiatives to devalue the Armenian national identity and various national institutions. "It is from this logic that a textbook on the history of Armenia for the 7th grade was launched into circulation, which caused a stir and sharp opposition from specialists, the subject "History of the Armenian Church" was excluded from the educational program, and now they are trying to disband the Bryusov Linguistic University and the innovative theater by illegal methods "Goy" and other institutions," noted the RA public figure, which refers to the symbols of the Republic of Armenia.
He added that now another anti-national initiative has been added to this list - to replace the subject "History of Armenians" with the topic "History of Armenia". "To the untrained eye the difference does not seem big, but in fact it is huge: the history of Armenia covers the history of our people from Hayk to Urartu, all the Armenian kingdoms, including the glorious Kingdom of Cilicia, the rich history of the Armenian diaspora over many centuries and much more, while Armenia in its current form was formed only during the last two centuries, mainly as a result of the Armenian Genocide and the loss of independence of our people, and represents a very small part of the history of our people. The current government is trying to minimize our historical past as much as possible and convince us all that 29.8 thousand square kilometers of territory is the maximum that our country can claim now and in the future. Now this absurd bill is on the government electronic website. By its style, the current government is trying to create the appearance that it is undergoing a democratic procedure and is enjoying public support Yesterday I already voted against this initiative, like a number of my friends, and I want to ask everyone who cares about the past and future of our people to also go to this site, register and vote against this yet another anti-people document. You can also leave comments on the site, according to the current legislation, the project applicant is obliged to contact them officially, so do not spare your time and effort and leave comments on the site," urged the coordinator of the "Hayaqve" movement.
