ArmInfo. The hearing on the case of former chairman of the State Revenue Committee and former Minister of Finance of Armenia Gagik Khachatryan has been postponed to January 31.
Khachatryan, like last time, was taken to court by ambulance in a wheelchair, accompanied by the appropriate doctors. According to lawyer Yerem Sargsyan, his client is given painkillers in advance so that he can appear and participate in at least a certain part of the trial. "We have submitted a new petition to the European Court for an interim measure because there is a risk to life. The state is obliged to take measures based on considerations of protecting human health," he emphasized.
During the meeting, the lawyer presented a petition to allow his client to travel to Germany for surgery. Gagik Khachatryan's health condition has deteriorated so much that delaying his surgery could lead to irreversible consequences, he emphasized. The lawyer pointed out that it would not interfere with the trial, noting that Khachatryan, while in Germany in 2019, returned to the Republic of Armenia at the first request of the investigator.
The judge decided to postpone the hearing to January 31.
The RA Prosecutor General's Office accuses Gagik Khachatryan of abuse of power, receiving a bribe on an especially large scale, assisting in money laundering and theft. Cases have been initiated against him and 25 people associated with him; the prosecutor's office demands the confiscation of 210 units of real estate from them, 60 of them in Yerevan, as well as 14 cars, shareholdings in 33 companies and sums of money totaling more than 40 million drams. The list also includes a mansion owned by Khachatryan in Los Angeles.
