Hovhannisyan suggested contacting the country's defense department about supply volumes and product names. "As for cooperation with the Russian Federation, work in this direction continues. Moreover, Yerevan is trying to implement a balanced policy in issues related to security, and in this vein, work is being done with all partners, based on the state interests of Armenia," the MP noted.
On January 16, Gagik Melkonyan, a member of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia reported that a batch of Russian weapons had arrived in Armenia, which were transferred within the framework of a previously signed contract with the Russian Federation. At the same time, the MP did not disclose the volumes of supplies and the types of military products.
The other day, on the air of the RA Public Television, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Andranik Kocharyan also stated that "some of the weapons ordered from Russia have been delivered to Armenia." "Not to the extent, according to the signed contract, that we expect, but this issue will be resolved in the process, I am sure," Kocharyan said. Earlier, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that Yerevan has not yet received weapons from Russia for which it has already been paid and now the parties discuss ways to solve the problem. He did not specify why there were no supplies, saying that "the Russian Federation itself also needs weapons now." Pashinyan noted that consultations are underway on mechanisms for solving the problem, among the options is reducing Armenia's debt to the Russian Federation in exchange for the amount paid.
