ArmInfo. The Council of the European Union has approved its Decision on enlargement of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA).
" Welcoming the European Union Council Decision on enlargement of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA). The increase in mission personnel underlines the EU's commitment to peace and security in the region," EUMA said in a statement in X.
On December 11, the EU Council decided to strengthen civilian mission in Armenia, increasing their presence on the ground from 138 to 209 people. EUMA patrols from 6 operational bases in Kapan, Goris, Jermuk, Yeghegnadzor, Martuni and Ijevan. The goal of the mission is to stabilize the situation in the border regions of Armenia, strengthen the confidence and security of people in conflict-affected areas and ensure conditions conducive to the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the support of the EU.
