ArmInfo. The capacity of the Bagratashen checkpoint on the Armenian-Georgian border will at least double by the end of 2024. Vice-Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Karen Tamazyan told reporters presenting the work on modernizing the checkpoints of the Republic, which started in 2023.
Tamazyan recalled that a major modernization of the Meghri checkpoint on the border with Iran began in 2023. As a result, it is planned to create a checkpoint that will comply with internationally recognized standards. It will also serve as a Service Center for Foreign Economic Activity (FEA).
Repair work has also started at the Bagratashen checkpoint. As a result, the number of traffic lanes will be increased, and lanes for freight and passenger transport will be separated. The work is planned to be completed by the end of this year.
Current repairs were carried out at the Gogavan checkpoint (on the Georgian border): the infrastructure was repaired, the area around the checkpoint was completely paved.
