ArmInfo.According to the Crime and Security Index 2023, presented by the world-famous analytical and information portal NUMBEO, Armenia ranks 7th among 142 countries studied (8th place in 2022 and 18th in 2018). Yerevan, in turn, took 20th place among the 417 safest cities in the world and is the first in the region. This was reported to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the presentation of a report on the department's activities for 2023.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the registered results. "I hope that we are setting ourselves much more serious goals in terms of international image. That is, if today, unfortunately, we are still only in 7th place in terms of internal security from the point of view of this organization, this means that we must set the task to go further, and our goal should be to become the safest country. It's the same with the capital Yerevan," he said.
According to the prime minister, tourism organizations pay great attention to such things when developing their tour packages. "It is necessary to keep our finger on the pulse when we encounter regression or do not make progress: let's go deeper, understand what the reason is. Of course, this process is primarily related to the work of the Police and Rescue Service. That is, this is the most important thing. We must adhere to this guideline when annually assessing the work of the Rescue Service and the Police," Pashinyan concluded.
According to this analysis, Armenia is the safest country in the region. Tbilisi is ranked 43rd, and Baku is ranked 84th. Moscow is on 133rd line. Ankara ranks 159, and Tehran - 312. In the ranking, Yerevan was preceded by Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and the next position was taken by the Dutch city of Groningen. The first three positions are occupied by the capital of the UAE Abu Dhabi, the capital of Qatar Doha and the capital of Taiwan Taipei.
