ArmInfo. Strengthening our state and security system will force the Azerbaijani armed forces to leave our territories. Chairman of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan noted during a briefing on January 11, answering questions from journalists.
"Every day we need to wake up and carry out tasks that will strengthen the security of our state," he said.
In order to clarify whether the strength will force Azerbaijani armed forces to leave the occupied territories, the MP emphasized that strength lies in unity, which concerns not only the army.
At the same time, Kocharyan did not rule out that the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the sovereign territory of Armenia is possible in the near future. When asked whether this will happen peacefully, the parliamentarian emphasized: "First of all, we must try peacefully. Definitely".
As a result of the aggression on May 12, 2021 and September 13, 2022, Azerbaijan occupied the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia. There is no exact information about the scale of the occupation. According to various sources, we are talking about a territory ranging from 150 sq. km to 300 sq. km.
