ArmInfo. There is a long way to go in terms of developing and deepening relations between Armenia and the EU. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated on January 10 in Yerevan at a joint press conference with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, in response to a question about the future of relations between Ervean and Brussels.
"There are a number of concrete actions and programs on the table, arising from the current CEPA program and beyond. The dialogue is lengthy and, as we have just heard, Greece has shown its willingness to support such cooperation. We, of course, will rely on these assurances. For its part, Armenia is intensively continuing the process of democratic reforms in various areas, and we are confident that they, in turn, bring Armenia closer to the European Union," the Foreign Minister noted, recalling a number of contacts over the past year.
At the same time, he emphasized that today the EU mission is of existential importance for Armenia in the security field. "This is a factor that ensures security on the border with Azerbaijan, and this is a topic that needs consistent continuation," Mirzoyan noted, recalling that the EU recently decided to increase and extend the mission's mandate. He added that the Armenian side welcomed this step.
