Foreign Minister of Greece, George (Giorgos) Gerapetritis who is on a official visit to Yerevan announced on Wednesday the joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan.
"Armenia is an important part of Europe. It was historically so," Mr. Gerapetritis emphasized, adding that Athens will take successive steps in the direction of the development of bilateral ties. In this vein, he proposed not to miss the moment, and to develop interaction not only through EUMA (the EU civil mission in Armenia), but also through other tools that will be launched for Armenia.
In this vein, the Greece Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of protecting the Armenian cultural heritage of the Nagorno -Karabakh. According to him, the Athens intend to work in this matter in cooperation with UNESCO.
""Greece unequivocally supports the preservation of Christian seats in Nagorno Karabakh and would like UNESCO monitoring mission to be in those places and revealing possible threats," the Minister said, again emphasizing his country's readiness to promote the relations of Yerevan and Brussels.
"Greece is always ready to be a reliable partner and sincerely believes that there can be prosperity only together with Europe.," he summed up.
