ArmInfo. Armenia's vision for unblocking regional communications remains the same: any unblocking of infrastructure should take place under the jurisdiction and within the framework of the sovereignty of the country on which territory it is, as well as on the basis of the principles of equality and mutuality.
Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan noted during a briefing to journalists. He emphasized that these are the basic principles within the framework of which Armenia is ready to organize the process of unblocking regional communications and work in this direction.
"We will continue to work on unblocking communications in the region within the framework of the Crossroads of Peace project proposed by the Armenian government. . If the infrastructure is unblocked on the basis of these principles, then peace and stability will be established in the region," said Grigoryan, pointing out the need to work towards the conclusion of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In this regard, he attached importance to the fact that the positions of Armenia and Iran coincide on the issue of unblocking. Regarding the possibility of easier communication between Azerbaijan and Nakhijevan, the Security Council Secretary noted that these are technical issues that can be discussed after agreeing on the abovementioned principles. "Armenia has expressed its readiness to work in this direction. If these principles are agreed upon and a public statement about this is made, we can begin to work on simplifying the mechanisms," Grigoryan noted.
