ArmInfo. Human Rights Defender of Armenia Anahit Manasyan received former Vice-President of the European Court of Human Rights Francoise, Baroness Tulkens and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Armenia Eric DE Muynck.
As the Defender's Office reports, Anahit Manasyan presented the guests with issues related to the protection of the rights of persons forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. The Defender referred to the fact-finding activities carried out by her personally and by the Office, during which information was obtained about the deaths, tortures, disrespect of bodies, mutilations and ill-treatment of civilians, as well as about other cases prohibited by international law, recorded as a result of Azerbaijani aggression.
Manasyan said that the mentioned information was included in the extraordinary report of the Human Rights Defender, which was the first to be presented by the Defender to the international organizations and actors with a mandate to protect human rights, with the advisory section proving the authenticity of the information.
In turn, thanking for the reception, the guests congratulated Anahit Manasyan on Armenia's membership in the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT).
It is reported that during the meeting the parties discussed possible areas of cooperation.
