ArmInfo. Armenian-Indian relations have received a new impetus during the Indian FM's visit to Armenia in the autumn of 2021, Indian Ambassador to Armenia Nilakshi S. Sinha stated in an interview to Armenian Public TV
According to her, there is a deepening of relations in all areas of interaction from political dialogue to trade and economic contacts.
The diplomat noted that among her priorities is to work on the development of bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest.
"Armenia is a strategically important and reliable partner for India in the South Caucasus," she added.
Regarding the possibilities for developing trade and economic relations between the two countries, the ambassador expressed his conviction that this area should be the focus of attention. According to her, steps are currently being taken to increase trade turnover. She expressed a desire to create strong ties between representatives of the business environment of the two countries. And she added that for this purpose, business forums are being organized between Armenia and India. "We are also working towards establishing direct flights between Yerevan and Delhi," Sinha said.
As to whether it can be expected that in the foreseeable future the partnership between Yerevan and New Delhi will develop into a strategic one, the diplomat noted that India is closely monitoring the processes in the region. "As I have already noted, Armenia is our reliable partner in the South Caucasus and we assist each other at various international multilateral platforms. That is, we have excellent relations at the international level, and now we are working to strengthen bilateral contacts," noted the Indian Ambassador.
When asked to evaluate bilateral military cooperation, the diplomat expressed her conviction that this area of interaction is quite promising. "We expect not only technical cooperation, but also the development of our capabilities through various trainings," she noted.
