ArmInfo. We are quite close to achieving real peace, RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan told reporters on Tuesday.
He noted that the basis for such an opinion is the peace treaty, or rather the process of negotiations around it.
Simonyan noted that Yerevan and Baku have already agreed on the basic principles of the peace treaty; there are still several provisions that are currently being discussed.
He did not disclose details, but expressed hope that consensus would be reached on these provisions as well. "I am full of expectations and I see that we will be able to come to an agreement," noted the head of the Parliament.
Simonyan noted that the Armenian side plans to send its proposals for a peace treaty to the Azerbaijani side by the end of the year. "The process is ongoing and has positive dynamics," he assured.
At the same time, the head of the National Assembly of Armenia noted that achieving peace is the mutual desire of the parties. "They also have a similar desire. We see it not only in the context of the statements made, but also in the context of the steps taken," he concluded.
