ArmInfo. In the morning, a protest action initiated by the "Mother Armenia" party has been taking place near the building of the capital's mayor's office. The latter oppose the draft law on increasing parking tariffs in Yerevan on the red lines.
The participants of the action call on political forces that are not part of the coalition with the ruling party "Civil Contract" not to participate in today's meeting of the Council of Elders, so as not to ensure a quorum for the adoption of the above project.
The action takes place under the slogan "No to robbery." According to activists, if parking tariffs increase, this will have a multiplier effect and will entail an increase in the cost of transport services, parking tariffs, etc.
"The opposition today must do everything to ensure that these robbers take their hands out of the pockets of our citizens. We will do everything possible to protect Yerevan and Armenia from the pro-Turkish authorities," they noted.
However, it is worth noting that, despite the calls of the "Mother Armenia" party, with the light hand of the "Public Voice" party, the quorum was ensured, and the meeting of the Council of Elders is held according to the established procedure.
At the same time, according to protest activists, "Public Voice" was informed in advance about the action and the call for non-participation in the meeting in order to avoid the adoption of this bill.
