ArmInfo. The Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia (UMBA) has initiated a program according to which it is planned to provide 220 families forcibly displaced from Artsakh with apartments in a single residential complex. This is stated in the message of the Union.
According to the source, it is planned, in particular, to complete the construction of one of the residential complexes that remained unfinished after the devastating earthquake in Gyumri since Soviet times. Design work has already been carried out, the foundations of the building have been tested for seismic resistance; in total, 1.5 billion drams will be required to implement the program.
According to SPPA Chairman Arsen Ghazaryan, the Union will cover more than 20% of the necessary expenses, and efforts are being made to attract other sources of financing. Ghazaryan noted that after the forced depopulation of Artsakh, discussions were held in the Union, steps were taken to preserve the gene pool of Artsakh Armenians.
Representatives of the SPPA turned to Armenian businessmen, and today many members of the Union are actively working on social issues and employment of Artsakh Armenians who have become refugees. "The construction of the residential complex will be another step towards easing the social and life problems of our brothers and sisters from Artsakh; their unification under one roof will help preserve their identity," Mr Ghazaryan said.
