ArmInfo. Baku and Tehran have determined a "road map" for resuming the operation of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Naser Kenani stated during a press conference on December 25.
"God willing, in the shortest possible time we will witness the resumption of the activities of the Azerbaijani embassy," Kanani said, without specifying what kind of negotiations we are talking about and how the trial of the attacker of the Azerbaijani embassy ended.
In turn, the Iranian Embassy in Baku published a message that on December 23, the prosecutors general of Iran and Azerbaijan discussed "the latest agreements on bilateral legal cooperation, including the development of a Memorandum of Understanding between the prosecutors general of Iran and Azerbaijan," during an online conference.
On January 27, 2023, Iranian citizen Yasin Huseynzadeh, armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, attacked the Azerbaijani embassy. At the same time, the head of the embassy security, Orkhan Askerov, was killed, and two more guards were wounded. Baku regarded the incident as a terrorist act, while Iran called the incident a domestic incident. Immediately after this, the entire embassy staff was evacuated to Azerbaijan.
