ArmInfo. Students from Nagorno-Karabakh who are not included in state support programs for subsidizing university education will receive financial assistance. The decision was made at a government meeting on December 21.
As Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic Zhanna Andreasyan explained, the October decision of the Cabinet concerned students who transferred from Artsakh universities to Armenian ones. The current decision will affect students who previously studied at universities and colleges of the Republic of Armenia, but after the forced transfer to the Republic of Armenia in September of this year, were deprived of from the possibility to pay tuition fees (previously they were paid either by the NKR government or by their families).
"935 people in total. 860 of them are educated in universities, 75 in vocational schools and colleges. Compensation for tuition fees for them for the first half of 2024 will amount to about 264 million drams," the minister said.
Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan, in turn, said that students who have already paid fees for the next semester will receive a full refund of this amount.
