ArmInfo. On December 20, RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Chairman of the Bulgarian academy of Sciences, Academician Julian Revalsky.
As the presidential press service reports, welcoming the guest, Khachaturyan highly appreciated the role of academic science in the life of the state. In particular, he said: "The National Academy of Sciences of Armenia played a very important role in the life of our country, in its economic development. The Academy's role was significant in the success achieved in Armenia, especially in terms of the high-tech economy, even during the Soviet Union. We clearly understand that without science and education, Armenia has no future. We do not have material and mineral resources, our resource is science and people".
Thanking for the reception, Academician Julian Revalsky stated that the Bulgarian Academy is older than the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. "Next year we will celebrate the 155th anniversary of the founding of our academy," he said.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed issues related to opportunities for interaction between the Academies of Sciences of Armenia and Bulgaria. The need to expand joint programs in the field of academic and higher education and the prospects for implementing student exchange programs were stated.
The parties emphasized the importance of creating and strengthening ties between the academic communities of the two countries.
