ArmInfo.Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized France for supplying weapons to Armenia.
Thus, after returning from Greece, Erdogan announced in a conversation with journalists that he considers the supply of French armored personnel carriers to Armenia a provocation.
"This is just a provocation. France should know that it is harming Armenia rather than doing a favor," the Turkish leader noted.
At the same time, he assured that it would be in Armenia's interests to take advantage of the opportunity to establish peace and "not fall into the trap of misleading countries."
"France used to strongly support Armenia. What result did they get? None. France is a member of the Minsk Group. It did the job, didn't get any results, now it's provoking Armenia. So what if you send armored vehicles? You won't get any benefit from it," he noted.
In early October of this year France responded positively to Armenia's request for military assistance against the backdrop of the threat posed by Azerbaijan. And already on October 22-23, at a meeting of the head of the French military department, Sebastien Lecornu, with the Minister of Defense of Armenia Suren Papikyan in Paris, it was announced that an agreement on the supply of arms to Yerevan had been reached. At that time, agreements were signed to supply Yerevan with three Thales Ground Master 200 (GM200) radars and a memorandum of understanding was signed for the supply of Mistral short-range air defense systems. The second contract referred to Yerevan's purchase of night vision binoculars produced by the Safran company. France has already supplied Armenia with 24 units of Bastion-type light armored vehicles. In total, Armenia will receive 50 such vehicles.
