ArmInfo. The return of 32 Armenian prisoners of war from Azerbaijani captivity must take place in the nearest time. Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan told reporters today.
He noted it's a matter of 'hours or days.' The MP denied the possibility of any other party participating in negotiations between Yerevan and Baku, which resulted in the joint statement. He noted that the negotiations took place between the offices of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan.
Khandanyan emphasized that we are talking about a humanitarian issue.
"This is a humanitarian issue, we are talking about the return of prisoners, which we have talked about for a long time and many times," the parliamentarian noted, calling on journalists not to disclose the names of returning prisoners of war until they cross the border of Armenia.
However, the list of 32 Armenians liberated by Azerbaijan has already been published in Baku. "Guided by the principles of humanism and as a gesture of goodwill, the Republic of Azerbaijan releases 32 Armenian servicemen. In turn, the Republic of Armenia, guided by the principles of humanism and as a gesture of goodwill, releases 2 Azerbaijani servicemen," stated in a joint statement by the offices of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan.
