ArmInfo. For many years, certain forces have raised the issue of Nagorn-Karabakh with only one goal - to prevent the formation of Armenian statehood. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in response to a question from parliamentarians during government hour on December 6. He noticed that he was coming to this conviction more and more.
Referring to his previous speech regarding this topic, the Prime Minister repeated that after the 1996 Lisbon summit there was no Artsakh issue. In particular, he recalled that the statement adopted following the summit stated that Nagorno-Karabakh could gain autonomy only as part of Azerbaijan.
To the accusations and comments that the government is indifferent to Artsakh, Pashinyan noted that he could characterize all this and answer with only one word - "ungratefulness."
"My task is the future of Armenia. The Constitution gives me responsibility for the future of our country, and I am focused on this task," he said.
Answering a question about prisoners of war, the head of government noted that work in this direction is being carried out on a daily basis.
It should be noted that at a press conference yesterday, international law specialist Siranush Sahakyan stated that at the moment 55 Armenians are officially being held in Azerbaijan. "Of course, they all have different statuses: prisoners of war, civilians held captive and persons held for political reasons. In particular, 6 civilians held hostage; 41 prisoners of war and 8 former political or military figures who are considered political prisoners ", the human rights activist explained, adding that this is only official data. According to her, in addition, the Azerbaijani side captured over 80 civilians and military personnel, but nothing is being done to clarify their fate. Sahakyan stated that the first group, officially confirmed, is in a more protected position, unlike the second group. "Since 2021, there have been no recorded cases in which Azerbaijan has officially confirmed the fact of holding persons captured during the 44-day war," she explained. After the Azerbaijani aggression on September 19-20, which was preceded by a total blockade of Artsakh for 9 months, over 100 thousand citizens were forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia
