ArmInfo.Armenia's Cabinet has approved the presidential decree endorsing the financial agreement "Support to Justice Reform in Armenia - Phase II" between Armenia and the European Commission.
As stated in the explanation to the document, the Agreement on financing the second stage was signed on July 19, 2023 in Brussels and November 9, 2023 in Yerevan. As part of the document, the European Union will provide the Republic of Armenia with budget support in the amount of 9 million euros. Another 2 million euros will be allocated for additional support for the project.
The funding agreement is designed to help Armenia achieve international justice and anti-corruption standards related to ethics, accountability, independence, quality, efficiency and access to institutions.
The project is aimed, in particular, at bringing justice management mechanisms and anti-corruption institutions into line with European standards, including judicial, prosecutorial and investigative bodies, raising awareness of stakeholders about reforms, mobilizing public support for government reforms, creating an independent and impartial arbitration center in accordance with best international practice. The project implementation period is 4 years.
