ArmInfo.On November 29, RA Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Olivier Decottignies.
According to the Defender's Office, Anahit Manasyan presented the Ambassador with issues related to the protection of the rights of persons forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. She also presented the work carried out, during which factual data on cases of death, torture, disrespect for the bodies of the dead and mutilation of civilians as a result of Azerbaijani aggression, as well as cruel treatment prohibited by international law was obtained.
During the meeting, issues related to the protection of human rights caused by the security of the borders of the Republic of Armenia were discussed. Referring to the results of the fact-finding work, the Defender noted that the state of human rights protection in border settlements as a result of Azerbaijani aggression is of great concern.
The Human Rights Defender also touched upon the directions and priorities of the institution's activities, including protecting the rights of children, women and people with disabilities, combating the environment of intolerance and inciting hatred among the population.
In turn, Olivier Decottignies thanked for the reception and pointed out the important role of the Defender's institution in the implementation of the high mission of protecting human rights.
