ArmInfo.Armenia will continue active cooperation with its partners in the Council of Europe in the exchange of best practices in local government reforms and the development of principles of democratic governance, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Vache Terteryan stated at the 18th meeting of the European Committee on Democracy and Governance (CDDG).
According to the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia, during the meeting the results of the committee's annual work were summed up, in particular with regard to the principles of democratic good governance, democratic participation, multi- level governance, green public administration and electronic voting.
In his speech, the Deputy Minister presented the latest reforms implemented in Armenia and praised the long-term cooperation and support from the Council of Europe. Terteryan presented the achievements of the RA government in implementing the reform program in the field of administrative-territorial management, the adoption of a concept that determines the scope of further decentralization and sustainable development of local self-government. The concept aims to strengthen local democracy and promote community empowerment and sustainable development.
The document defines the principles, problems and goals of decentralization, proposed solutions aimed at decentralizing powers in areas, expected results and sources of financing, and the scope of possible actions that need to be taken in the coming years.
