ArmInfo. Yerevan will continue to work with the Russian side on the issue of recognition of driver's licenses, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on November 24, as he commented the decision of the Russian State Duma to indefinitely postpone a bill that could allow Armenian citizens to be employed as transport workers as in Russia with driver's licenses issued in Armenia.
According to Pashinyan, the issue of recognizing driver's licenses of Armenian citizens by nature should not have arisen, because, according to the logic of the EAEU, the Union ensures freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and labor.
In this regard, the Prime Minister considers the arguments presented on this issue to be unconvincing. However, Yerevan will continue to work with Russian colleagues towards the recognition of driver's licenses, he assured.
Pointing out that the main problem is the recognition of Russian as the official language, Pashinyan noted that "taking into account the peculiarities" of Armenia, it is difficult to imagine that any language other than Armenian would have such a status in the Republic of Armenia. According to the Armenian prime minister, the population of the country shares the same opinion.
