ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan considers it possible to establish diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia in the near future.
In particular, on November 24, during a live broadcast, answering a corresponding question from a citizen, Pashinyan noted that there have been certain contacts with Saudi Arabia in recent years, visits and telephone conversations at the level of foreign ministers, and there have also been separate contacts and discussions.
"My assessment is that the process is moving forward. I hope that Armenia and Saudi Arabia will officially establish diplomatic relations in the near future. By the way, this year we launched flights from Riyadh to Yerevan. They, as originally planned, are seasonal," the prime minister noted.
Flights have stopped since September of this year, but there is an agreement to resume them in 2024, possibly in January, or maybe later, but with a certain frequency, he noted.
Regarding relations with Pakistan, which has not yet officially recognized Armenia, Pashinyan said that RA aims to establish good neighborly relations with all countries of the world. In this vein, he noted that certain diplomatic work in this direction is being carried out and will continue to be carried out out, although not at such a high level.
"But it is clear that the refusal to recognize the independence of Armenia and establish diplomatic relations for 30 years forces us to understand the reasons for this and how progress can be recorded in this situation, which is not an easy task," the head of the Cabinet emphasized. At the same time, according to the Armenian prime minister, the signing of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan may become a factor in establishing relations with Pakistan.
