ArmInfo.On November 23, an extraordinary joint meeting of the standing commissions on political issues and international cooperation and socio-economic and legal issues of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly was held via videoconference.
According to the press service of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Armen Khachatryan and member of the commission Gegham Manukyan took part in the work of the commissions.
The Armenian parliamentarians expressed disagreement with the statements of the CSTO PA Council on the agenda regarding the "attempt to justify and encourage the Nazis of the "Galicia" SS Division" in the Canadian Parliament.
Armen Khachatryan explained that the Speaker of the Canadian Parliament, admitting his mistake for this initiative, apologized and resigned. Subsequently, the Canadian parliament confirmed the need to criticize Nazism and related manifestations.
The deputy chairman of the commission said that Canada is a friendly country for Armenia, opening the only embassy in the region in Yerevan. He also added that Canada adequately responded to the problems of compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Armenian parliamentarians proposed a draft condemning Nazism and nationalism, which will be discussed in the relevant committee of the CSTO PA.
On the second item on the agenda - "Statement of the CSTO PA on the possible consequences of the use of ammunition with depleted uranium", it was noted that this issue is regulated by the relevant UN acts, and it is inappropriate to address it.
