ArmInfo.Assistant to the Russian President Yuri Ushakov expects that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will attend the CIS and EAEU summits in St. Petersburg in December.
"I believe that (representatives of Armenia, TASS note) will come to St. Petersburg, where the traditional informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS countrieswill take place and also the formal meeting of the EAEU, by the way, at this meeting meeting the chairmanship [of EAEU] will pass from us to Armenia so I think that [Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol] Pashinyan will arrive to take the chairmanship from [Russian President] Vladimir Putin," a Kremlin representative told reporters, TASS reports. Armenian representatives did not participate in the CSTO session held in Minsk on Thursday. When asked whether this was a demonstrative step towards Yerevan's withdrawal from the organization, Ushakov said: "This means that they did not come to the meeting today and practically did not participate in its preparation."
Representatives of Armenia also did not participate in the meetings preceding the session of the CSTO Council, with the participation of the ministers of foreign affairs and defense and the secretaries of the Security Council of the CSTO countries.
The St. Petersburg summits will take place at the end of this year. As Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov has already reported, Pashinyan has been invited to both events.
