ArmInfo.President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, during a meeting with the head of the European Union delegation to Armenia, Vassilis Maragos, congratulated the Republic of Armenia and the European Union on the signing of an agreement on the status of the European Union Mission to Armenia (EUMA) and wished them fruitful cooperation.
According to the press service of the President of Armenia, Vassilis Maragos noted that as the head of the EU delegation, he directs all his efforts to the constant development and strengthening of Armenia-EU relations.
At the meeting, issues related to the permanent development of close cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the EU were discussed, and issues related to the activities of EUMA were touched upon.
The parties mutually expressed satisfaction with the level of implementation of joint programs.
Vassilis Maragos noted the commitment of the European Union to its decision to support smooth democratic reforms in Armenia. In this context, the President of the Republic emphasized that Armenia is consistently pursuing a policy of creating and strengthening democratic institutions in the country, from which it will not retreat.
The parties also touched upon regional processes. In this regard, Vahagn Khachaturyan confirmed Armenia's unequivocal position on achieving a stable and lasting peace and normalizing relations with its neighbors. According to him, stable peace in the region is one of the most important preconditions for strengthening democracy.
