ArmInfo. The countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization do not even give a political assessment of the fact of Azerbaijan's occupation of part of the territory of Armenia. Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan told reporters on November 16, commenting on the country's authorities' latest refusal to participate in the CSTO summit, which is scheduled to take place on November 23 in Minsk.
The Speaker noted that Armenia has repeatedly appealed to the CSTO and its ally regarding violations of its territorialintegrity. These appeals were presented both in written and oral form, but there was and is no action by the Organization. Moreover, against this background, there are proposals to deploy a CSTO observation mission on the country's borders. "But what are they going to monitor if they themselves declare that there are no violations of the borders of Armenia. Are the borders not violated near Jermuk? Are they not violated in other places? What are they going to observe?" , the speaker askes, adding that it is difficult to imagine that representatives of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan and Belarus would fight against Azerbaijan.
The Speaker noted that the CSTO member countries often refer to the provisions of the agreement between the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan of November 9, 2020, arguing that by accepting the Alma- Ata Declaration of 1991 as the basis for regulating relations between Yerevan and Baku, Armenia violated this agreement. But after November 9, 2020, the Lachin corridor was blocked, ethnic cleansing was carried out, not to mention the previous events related to the attack on Khtsaberd, Azerbaijan's aggression against the territorial integrity of Armenia. "Can we just pretend like this never happened? After all, at that time Yerevan did not raise the issue of the Alma-Ata Declaration, so where was the reaction from the CSTO partners? Before declaring that after the Alma-Ata Declaration and the Prague Agreements they have nothing more to do, let them turn their gaze to the recent past," the Speaker of the National Assembly said.
On November 14, during a telephone conversation with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Prime Minister Pashinyan informed the President of Belarus that he will not be able to participate in the session. In early October, the Prime Minister of Armenia did not attend the summit of CIS heads in Bishkek. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan also did not attend the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers meeting.
