It is noted that Ogun Samast, who spent 16 years and 10 months in prison, was under the supervision of the prison administration for a year. "He met the conditions required for parole by demonstrating good behavior," the source writes.
Hrant Dink was assassinated in Istanbul in front of his newspaper's office on January 19, 2007. The court sentenced only the murderer himself, Ogun Samastak, to 22 years and 10 months in prison, and Yasin Khayal, accused of inciting murder, to life imprisonment. On September 17, 2013, the trial resumed. And on January 19, 2015, as part of the case, former police chief Cizre Ercan Demir was arrested, but the investigation has not yet been completed, and the customer has not been found. According to the decision of the European Court of Human Rights, the Turkish authorities violated Hrant Dink's right to life and right to freedom of speech. The ECHR obliged Turkey to pay 133 thousand euros to Hrant Dink's family.
