ArmInfo. Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan held a number of meetings in London.
Mr Mirzoyan had a meeting with Ms Alicia Kearns, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, House of Commons, UK Parliament. The interlocutors touched upon issues related to the expansion of the Armenian-British political dialogue, current cooperation and its prospects, and in this context, the launch of the Armenia-UK strategic dialogue was considered valuable.
The head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry introduced his interlocutor to the current security and humanitarian situation in the region, emphasizing the importance of expressing public and clear commitment of all parties involved in promoting the peace agenda.
Mirzoyan pointed out the importance of calling what happened in Nagorno-Karabakh by its name and the important role of parliamentary circles in this issue. He also outlined steps taken to address the immediate needs of more than 100,000 forcibly displaced Artsakh people as a result of ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan, including in cooperation with international partners.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the implementation of the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
The same day, Mr Mirzoyan took part in discussions at the Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues were discussed, both in the sphere of relations between the Republic of Armenia and Great Britain, and in the context of regional processes.
Mr Mirzoyan dwelled in detail on the priorities of Armenia's foreign policy, recent regional events, as well as a number of issues related to the country's participation on international platforms.
He presented to the meeting participants the position of the Republic of Armenia regarding the establishment of stability and security in the South Caucasus, the settlement of relations with neighbors, as well as the opportunities provided by the "Crossroads of Peace" project.
Speaking about the process of normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and confirming Armenia's commitment to the peace agenda, the head of the foreign ministry noted that the approaches of the Armenian side are mainly expressed in the principles enshrined in the quadripartite declaration adopted in Granada. The Minister emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan's unconditional commitment to the continuation of the peace process based on these principles and the strong support of the international partners of this process.
The agenda of the event also included the situation resulting from the ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh, issues related to meeting the priority needs and rights of more than 100 thousand forcibly displaced and virtually deprived of their homeland Armenians.
Mr Mirzoyan discussed the same issues with Mr David Lammy, Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
