ArmInfo. The statement by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on November 13 in Brussels after a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union was received with indignation in Azerbaijan. Let us note that Borrell threatened Azerbaijan with serious consequences in case of any violation of the territorial integrity of Armenia.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry considered such an approach "not reflecting the realities in the region, inadequate, and unacceptable."
Having accused the EU of double standards, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry decided to justify itself for the aggression against Artsakh, assuring that all actions allegedly "took place on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan." Further, Baku accused Brussels of "supporting separatism."
"The EU's efforts to arm Armenia and thereby support militarization, which impedes peace and stability in the region, encourage policies that lead to new conflicts, and responsibility for this also falls on the EU. Plans to use the European Peace Initiative, which includes, in particular, strengthening Armenia's military potential, are contributing to increased tension in the region. We remind you once again that speaking to Azerbaijan in the language of threats is unacceptable, and any unfriendly actions will not only not give a positive result, but will also receive an adequate response," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry threatened the European Union.
