ArmInfo.. Armenia intends to begin building strong cooperation with the West. Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia Armen Grigoryan stated on November 10 in Brussels at the Armenia-European Union forum.
According to him, this cooperation should be multi-layered: at the level of the executive and legislative branches of government, as well as at the level of economic interaction. Grigoryan emphasized that recently there has been an active dialogue with the EU and with a number of countries of the European Union, new opportunities have opened up, including on the issue of security, which never happened a few years ago. As an example, Grigoryan cited France, with which significant progress has been noticeable in the field of military cooperation. "There are all the prerequisites for the level of cooperation with the EU and its individual states on the issue of security to be more than significantly increased," said the Secretary of the RA Security Council, noting that security means not only military-technical cooperation. Even economic cooperation, Grigoryan continued, carries with it elements of security. Armenia is ready for this.
He recalled the statement of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Armenia is ready to cooperate with Europe exactly as much as Europe considers it possible. The Security Council Secretary pointed to the active participation of the EU in resolving relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He, in particular, emphasized the importance of the quadripartite meeting in Granada with the participation of President of the European Council Charles Michel, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in the context of steps to establish peace and stability in the region. Grigoryan also recalled Pashinyan's meeting with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and adoption of a joint statement by them, which emphasizes that Armenia's relations with the EU are built on the basis of common values.
