ArmInfo. Former Ombudsman of Armenia Arman Tatoyan responded to a statement by Artsvik Minasyan, a member of the opposition parliamentary faction "Hayastan" (Armenia), that he was offered to head the interim government.
According to Taton, he is forced to turn to yesterday's statement by Minasyan, in which the latter, touching on the real reasons for the failure of the National Committee, noted that "they proposed an interim government led by Arman Tatoyan. "There was one condition that the Catholicos and all former presidents publicly express their support for this idea, however, the idea could not be implemented due to the negative reaction of the first President of the Republic of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan," the deputy said.
"Firstly, I do not have and have not had any connection with these political processes and the National Committee with its discussions. No one discussed with me the formation of the "Provisional Government" or issues related to its leadership. Discussing the reasons for the failure of these processes in the context of my name is strange and incomprehensible," noted the ex-Ombudsman. According to him, the growing security problems of Armenia, the forced resettlement of Armenians from Artsakh, threats to Armenian identity, internal division and hostility of society in Armenia, systemically broken ties with the Diaspora require urgent solutions. These issues deeply concern every Armenian, including him, Tatoyan noted, assuring that he has never shied away from responsibility.
"I repeat once again what I already said once publicly a year ago: I am active in public activities, but I do not belong to any political force and have no relations with any political force.
"When I deem it necessary to participate in any political process, I will act independently and make this clear. Moreover, I will be guided by the agenda of state security, ensuring the rule of law and human rights, protecting national values and restoring public solidarity," Mr Tatoyan stated.
