Armenia`s NSS reveals case of terrorist preparation

ArmInfo.The National Security Service of Armenia reported that it has revealed a case of  preparation of a terrorist act by a group of persons based on a preliminary conspiracy.

Thus, according to the report of the National Security Service of the  Republic of Armenia, during the investigation it was established that  A.M, S.M, E.Ts, V.V, K.S. and persons not identified by the  investigation, as part of the group, planned to commit an explosion  and other socially dangerous actions in 2023.

It is noted that they  planned to seize buildings of state and other  importance, which would be accompanied by the threat of killing a  civilian, presumably causing large property damage, and other grave  consequences, the goal was to disrupt the work of public authorities.

"These actions, regardless of the will of the organizers, were not  implemented, since they were identified by the National Security  Service. Based on sufficient factual data obtained within the  framework of criminal proceedings, criminal prosecution was initiated  against 5 members of the criminal group under the relevant article of  the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia and charges were  brought. As a measure arrest was chosen," the RA National Security  Service added.

The department reported that searches were carried out at the  residence addresses of members of the criminal group, in adjacent  buildings, and in individual gathering places. "As a result of these  actions, a firearm, ammunition, one explosive device, one flare  launcher, one flying device and two gas cylinders with a pressure  gauge probability to be attached to it, two piercing instruments with  wooden handles, a container with ammunition fragments, a bulletproof  vest, military uniform, optical sight, handcuffs, telecommunication  devices, video surveillance devices, electronic media, computers and  mobile phones, about a dozen unused cards of communication operators  of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, a solar  battery, notebooks containing various records, documents containing  explicit as well as hidden records of preparations for committing a  terrorist attack, etc. were discovered," the department added.

The National Security Service of Armenia also reported that during  the study of records and other materials found as a result of  searches, it was established that the impending terrorist attack was  called "Northern Leaf Fall." It is noted that for the successful  implementation of the task and the subsequent involvement of the  wider masses in terrorist actions, attackers planned in advance to  create Ukrainian and Moldovan Telegram channels, under the name  "Uprising of National Salvation", the day before the start of  terrorist attacks, starting at night, to activate Telegram channels  and activists.  "For the successful implementation of criminal  activities, they also planned to purchase first aid items in advance,  as well as take the families of members of the criminal group to  Georgia," the department added, noting that the investigation is  ongoing and efforts are underway to identify all participants in the  crime.
