ArmInfo.Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan does not believe that the negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan has reached a dead end.
In a conversation with journalists, he mentioned that as a result of active international contacts, the process reached a logic acceptable to all parties. Among these contacts, the Speaker pointed to the meeting of foreign ministers of the 3+3 platform held in Tehran. This platform, which concerns the region, is very important for Yerevan, the head of the Armenian parliament noted, adding that you should discuss the problems of the region with the countries represented there.
Answering the question about the existence of a crisis in Armenian-Russian relations, Simonyan called for addressing it to the Russian side. "The Armenian side kept its rhetoric and never went beyond the framework of allied relations, without showing non-partnership relations," the Speaker said, pointing to facts of unpleasant actions by the Russian Federation, be it a recent TV program directed against the Armenian authorities, or a statement by an official a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry that ""a bad dancer is always in the way," or propaganda speeches by famous people in Russia that are insulting towards Armenia. All these steps of the Russian side, according to Simonyan, have the opposite effect, receiving the opposite reaction from the Armenian society.
In contrast to all these statements, as a result of active diplomacy, it was possible to present Armenia's national interests to European partners. However, as the Speaker emphasized, in relations with foreign partners it is necessary act without emotions, especially taking into account the fact that each of the partners has its own interests in the region. "Now it is necessary to properly protect our national interests at the diplomatic level," Simonyan said.
