As Figaro reports, the French Foreign Ministry commented in response to the AFP news agency's request regarding the Azerbaijani-Turkish military exercises.
According to the Ministry, these maneuvers are being organized, in particular, in the Azerbaijani enclave of Nakhichevan, bordering Armenia and Iran, as well as in "liberated territories", the location of which is not specified and which may refer to Nagorno-Karabakh or adjacent Azerbaijani regions. "As the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna has repeatedly indicated France will be extremely vigilant against any attempt to endanger Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the French Foreign Ministry's commented.
Today the Azerbaijani-Turkish joint Mustafa Kemal Ataturk 2023 tactical exercises began in Azerbaijan. As the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan said in a statement, the exercises conducted in Baku, Nakhijevan and the "liberated territories" involved up to 3,000 personnel of various types of troops of both countries, 130 units of armored vehicles, up to 100 artillery pieces, more than 20 aviation and flying equipment, and engineering equipment. During the exercises, using modern combat methods, tasks are carried out to use artillery, aviation and other types of troops, organize the construction of pontoon bridges across rivers and land landings deep into the imaginary enemy. The Mustafa Kemal Ataturk 2023 exercise focuses on ensuring combat coherence in the interaction of troops, improving command and control, exchanging experience and increasing the professionalism of personnel, the Azerbaijani military department said in a statement. The exercise will end on October 25.
