ArmInfo.Armenia's Minister of the Interior Vahe Ghazaryan had a meeting with French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies. During the meeting Mr Ghazaryan stressed that as a result of ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh, tens of thousands of people were deprived of rights to live safely, freely and with dignity in their homeland and were forced to flee to Armenia due to threats to their physical safety.
Mr Ghazaryan also said that the Ministry he heads is directly involved in the work to ensure the rights of forcibly displaced compatriots from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Highly appreciating the special Armenian-French friendly relations, the minister emphasized his readiness to strengthen and develop them in the law enforcement sphere.
In turn, the ambassador noted the French side's readiness to expand cooperation. He particularly focused on the large-scale command post exercise "HOPE-2023" that took place a few days ago in Armenia within the EU and emphasized the active participation of France in it.
The diplomat also touched upon the intensification of cooperation in the areas of services under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
