Putin: I hope Armenia to be able to host 2024 CIS Games

ArmInfo. I hope that, despite all the dramatic developments that are currently taking place in the region, Armenia will be able to host the Games of the CIS countries.  Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on October 13 in Bishkek during his speech at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS Member States in a narrow format.

The Russian President noted that last year a number of important  joint initiatives to develop cooperation in sports were launched  within the CIS.

According to him, now the Commonwealth regularly, on the yearly base,  selects a sports capital and hosts the Games of the CIS countries.  "As you know, our Kazan hosted the first such games in 2021, and this  year they were held in Minsk. Minsk also deservedly received the  status of the sports capital of the CIS. 

And I know, Alexander Grigorevich [Lukashenko] and I have already  discussed it, indeed, large-scale, large, interesting competitions  have turned out. And next year, at least, as planned,  the Armenian  Gyumri will host them. I hope that, despite all the dramatic  developments that are currently taking place in the region, I will  talk about this a little later, Armenia will be able to hold these  events," Putin concluded.
