ArmInfo. As for the intensification of anti-Russian sentiments in Armenia, this is being done artificially to a decisive extent. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this on October 12 in Bishkek in a conversation with journalists on the sidelines of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council in response to a question about the cause of the crisis in relations between Yerevan and Moscow, and whether the two countries are approaching the point of no return in the current realities.
According to the Russian minister, Moscow is well aware of the number of non-governmental organizations that have been created in Armenia in recent years. "Yes, there were quite a few of them there before. These organizations are not created with the goal of promoting friendly relations between Armenia and Russia. Quite the contrary. They are aimed at creating the ground for anti-Russian sentiments and preparing for the promotion of interests in this region through Armenia, primarily of all, the USA, the European Union and NATO countries," Lavrov noted.
The Russian Foreign Minister noted that Moscow sees these attempts. At the same time, he admitted that these attempts are achieving some results. "But we have a deep conviction that the overwhelming majority of the Armenian people are interested in developing traditional, historical, fraternal ties with the Russian Federation," he said. In this vein, Lavrov drew attention to the fact that a couple of days ago, the Prime Minister of Armenia gave an interview where he said that Yerevan does not change its guidelines.
"Let's hope that this position will prevail, despite attempts to pull Yerevan in a different direction," summed up Russia's chief diplomat.
