Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced on October 10 during a weekly briefing to clarify what fate awaits the citizens of Artsakh captured  by Azerbaijan.

"We proceed from the fact that in any situation, the norms of  humanitarian law must be applied to detained persons. In turn, we  have repeatedly called on our partners in bilateral and trilateral  formats to complete the process of exchanging prisoners on the  principle of "all for all." Now, in my opinion, very good conditions  are ripe for this. We hope that this issue will be successfully  resolved," she noted.

As for the Russian citizens, Zakharova emphasized that regardless of  where exactly they faced any challenge, the difficult life situation,  Moscow will provide assistance to them through its own capabilities.

Azerbaijan officially confirmed the fact of the capture of  ex-Minister of State of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan, former deputy  commander of the Armed Forces of Artsakh, General David Manukyan,  former commander of the Artsakh Autonomous Region, General Levon  Mnatsakanyan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh David  Babayan, former President of the Republic of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan  (2007 -2020), former President of the Republic of Artsakh Arkady  Ghukasyan (1997-2007),Speaker of the National Assembly of Artsakh  David Ishkhanyan, former President of the Republic of Artsakh  (2020-2023), former Minister of State (2007-2018) Arayik Harutyunyan.

In addition, since 2020, several hundred Armenian prisoners of war  and civilians have been in Azerbaijani captivity.
