ArmInfo. Baku, in its characteristic hysterical manner, reacted to the statements of French President Emmanuel Macran about the need to bring Azerbaijan to the negotiating table, and the resolution adopted by the European Parliament, which, among other things, calls for sanctions against the Azerbaijani authorities for aggression against Artsakh.
Thus, responding to Macron, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that it strongly condemns and rejects the "unfounded accusations" voiced by French President Emmanuel Macron against Azerbaijan on October 5 at a press conference in Granada after the summit of the European Political Community.
"The statements of the French President on the issue of the refusal of Azerbaijan and Turkey to participate in Granada are an example of hypocrisy," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry commented. At the same time, they emphasize that it was the French side that opposed Turkey's participation of the five-sided meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, France and Germany, as well as the President of the Council of the EU.
"We would like to remind the French side, which is calling to put pressure on Azerbaijan, that speaking with Azerbaijan in the language of pressure is pointless and unacceptable," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry noted, again talking nonsense about 30 years of negotiations. In turn, speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova considers the resolution of the European Parliament " slanderous, biased and non- objective."
And in this she saw the machinations of France specifically: "This is another evidence of the policy of double standards of the European Parliament. Accusing Baku of ethnic cleansing is an obvious manifestation of political irresponsibility. It is no coincidence that the document was mainly prepared and submitted for discussion at the initiative of a group of representatives of France. Today, Paris has clearly sided with the "aggressor". Attempts to put pressure on Azerbaijan are futile and Baku will not deviate from its path."
The MM statement expresses protest and condemnation of the resolution and notes that "Azerbaijan has no obligations to the European Parliament."
