ArmInfo. Armenia submitted 10 demands to the International Court of Justice, including Azerbaijan's refusal to take punitive measures against current and former political figures of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army and military personnel of the Artsakh Defense Army. Yeghishe Kirakosyan, representative of Armenia on International Legal Affairs stated in an interview with the RA Public Television.
Regarding the possibility of releasing the kidnapped Artsakh politicians, Kirakosyan noted that this is not the first time that Baku has captured people from Armenia and Artsakh. "They are accused of various crimes. By the same logic, we can conclude that the politicians and military personnel of the Artsakh Defense Army will suffer the same fate," Kirakosyan said.
He expressed hope that the court would impose a ban on Baku's behavior, although Kirakosyan does not particularly hope for a corresponding verdict from the UN court.
"The likelihood of release is low, I have no reason to believe that the court will make such a decision. I'm talking not only about the international court, but also about the ECHR. Unfortunately, the courts do not interfere in the affairs of Azerbaijan and do not force it to release previously captured persons. All that remains is to file a claim to guarantee the rights of these persons and to prevent illegal processes to the maximum extent," the RA Representative on International Legal Affairs said.
