ArmInfo. Statements from Yerevan about the possibility of leaving the CSTO are their sovereign choice, but Moscow hopes that no interim administrations will destroy ties between Russia and Armenia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on October 2 in a conversation with journalists following the results of the 20th annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
"If, as some leaders of Armenia have announced, now, disappointed with Russia and the CSTO, they will look for their security partners abroad to strengthen their own security, this is their sovereign choice, the choice of the Armenian leadership. But I still hope that those ties , which have existed for centuries between the Russian people, the Russian and other nations of the Russian Federation and the Armenian people, cannot be destroyed by any temporary administration," Lavrov concluded.
Against the backdrop of negative processes around Armenia and Artsakh, the RA authorities have repeatedly stated at different levels that they are forced to look for new security allies, in conditions where the Russian Federation and the CSTO do not fulfill their obligations. Moscow does not agree with this formulation of the issue, assuring that Russia is fulfilling all its allied obligations in full.
