France to open consulate in Armenia`s Syunik

ArmInfo. France will soon open a consulate in Armenia's southern province of Syunik, near the  border, French FM Catherine Colonna stated in Parliament. 

No country other is supporting Armenia as much as France and all  meetings of the UN Security Council at the diplomatic level took  place on France's initiative. 

Since the beginning of the year, the French foreign office has  allocated more than 5 million euros to the Armenian population of  Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and given the latest developments a  decision has been made to provide an additional 7 million euros, she  said.

It was on France's initiative that an observation mission was  deployed in Armenia, Ms Colonna added. 

France has also strengthened defense relations with Armenia.

Defense attache will be present at the French Embassy in Yerevan,  after which France we will soon open a consulate in Syunik. So these  are tangible proofs that France firmly stands by Armenia, she said.

The fact that Russia has abandoned Armenia and is complicit in  Azerbaijan's military operations makes international diplomatic  actions even more necessary. Ms Colonna said, voicing hope France  will see Europe as coworker to respect Armenia's territorial  integrity and preserve the Karabakh Armenians' right to life, Ms  Colonna said.
