ArmInfo. At the moment, 19 thousand internally displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh have already arrived in Armenia through Kornidzor, Deputy Prime Minister, head of the working group to support Artsakh people Tigran Khachatryan said at a press conference on September 26.
According to Khachatryan, over the past three days, more than 2,500 Artsakh residents have been provided with accommodation. Of these, about 1 thousand Artsakh residents are accommodated in hotels in Syunik, 500 each in Vayk and Gegharkunik. Accommodation of the remaining compatriots continues in hotels in Tavush. In addition, in Goris, at the primary reception point, about 1,200 people are in the process of being accommodated.
Currently, a detailed accounting of 16 thousand people has been carried out, of which about 5,500 are persons under 19 years of age.
On September 19, Azerbaijan, under the pretext of an "anti-terrorist operation," undertook another act of aggression against Artsakh. As a result of enemy aggression, hundreds of Artsakh residents were injured, more than 200 deaths were reported, including civilians, and more than 10,000 were evacuated. On September 20, Artsakh fell. Azerbaijan began the forcible subjugation of the NKR. On September 22, the process of abolishing the Artsakh Defense Army began. There were reports that the enemy side exterminated the population of the villages captured on September 19-20. During search operations from September 21 to 24, the NKR Ministry of Internal Affairs found the bodies of 105 Artsakh residents, including brutally murdered children and elderly people.
The working group led by Tigran Khachatryan was established at the end of December 2022 with the aim of monitoring humanitarian issues with the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh and providing the necessary urgent support, including with the help of international organizations.
