ArmInfo. On the sidelines of 78th session of the U.S. General Assembly, Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid.
The meeting raised issues of Azerbaijan's ongoing provocations against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, the accumulation of Azerbaijani troops and military equipment along the border of the Republic of Armenia and the line of contact with Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as Azerbaijan's continued aggressive behavior.
Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of the legally binding decisions of the International Court of Justice of February 22 and July 6, 2023, as well as the unconditional implementation of paragraph 6 of the Tripartite Statement of November 9, 2020, namely the immediate end to the blocking of the Kashatagh (Lachin) corridor. The head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry also especially noted the importance of effective steps by international actors, including the OSCE, in the issue of preventing ethnic cleansing against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Armenia's FM noted that Azerbaijan's destructive actions undermine efforts aimed at establishing stability in the region and demonstrate disregard for its own obligations within international structures, another manifestation of which was the obstruction of the personal representative of the OSCE Chairmanship through the Kashatagh corridor. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the need for the OSCE to immediately use appropriate tools.
Mr Mirzoyan also had a meeting with Mr Josep Borrel, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
"[O]n [the] sidelines of UNGA78 had meeting with EU HR/VP Josep Borrell. Spoke about AZ intentions in Nagorno-Karabakh, which go against fundamental norms of international law and are clearly aimed at depriving NK people of their homeland. International partners, including EU should take urgent action to prevent," Mr Mirzoyan tweeted.
