ArmInfo. German Foreign Minister Annalena Charlotte Alma Baerbock called on Azerbaijan to stop hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh and sit down at the negotiating table.
"Azerbaijan must immediately stop shelling and return to the negotiating table," the German FM said on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The main task, she said, is to protect civilians in Nagorno-Karabakh. In this regard, she noted that this is the task of Russian soldiers deployed in Artsakh.
The Minister believes that lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia can only be achieved at the negotiating table. Fm Baerbock noted that the German government supports the EU-led negotiations. "Given today's escalation, this is more relevant than ever before," the German Foreign Minister emphasized.
